HAND CRAFTED SCULPTURES INSPIRED BY NATURE
ABOUT STARFISH SCULPTURES
Hi. My name is Carl, and this is my wife, Vivien.
Like many of us, I began carving when I was young and still at school. I recall working on a boat hull of a model Viking ship, with a sail that hoisted up on a piece of string. As a hobby, I began making balsa wood models and plastic model kits from the toy shop. Then, later on in life I had the privilege of forming, fabricating and welding in plastic. It was during this later period I began carving animals in polyethylene, making moulds of them, and casting copies of them.
Resin Starfish with air plant in a shell
The carving for this feature was inspired by the main theme of Starfish Sculptures; to do something, no matter how small, to make a positive difference to the wildlife of our planet. This feature was imagined with a footprint, starfish, shell and airplant. The base was cast using resin mixed with seaside sand, with the starfish painted, a shell and an airplant added.
Sculptures under development
Here are some sculptures still being developed.
